Welcome to Rapid Health

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING TO CHECK IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO USE RAPID HEALTH SMART TRIAGE

There are some types of appointments that have unique arrangements due to their nature, and should not be booked directly using Rapid Health. If any of the circumstances below apply to you, please do not use Rapid Health but follow the alternative instructions provided to ensure your medical request is handled appropriately.

Children under 16 years old: Parents or guardians may still complete a Rapid Health online form on behalf of their children, but please note that they will not be automatically offered an appointment. The request will be assessed by the duty doctor on the day and an outcome communicated to you.

University of Derby students and Keddleston Road campus site: University students that are registered with the practice may use Rapid Health to book appointments but please note that you will have to attend any face to face appointments that you book at the site where that appointment is – this may not always be at the University Keddleston Road campus site. If this is not convenient for you please phone the surgery to rearrange an appointment at the University Campus site.

If you are not a University of Derby student, please note that you will not be able to access the University Campus site on Keddleston Road as access is only permitted to registered University of Derby students. If you have selected an appointment in error at the University site, please phone the surgery to rearrange your appointment to either our Borrowash, Chaddesden or Oakwood sites.

Who Should Not Use the Rapid Health Online Form?

  • Patients requiring British Sign Language (BSL) or non-English interpreters: Please contact the surgery directly so we can arrange an interpreter for your appointment.
  • Housebound patients needing a home visit: Please call the surgery in the usual way to request an acute home visit, as these cannot be booked online.
  • Nurse, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), or Pharmacist appointments: These should be booked by phoning the surgery or attending in person. Most of these appointments are already proactively arranged in advance for you by our clinical admin team.
  • Post-natal and baby checks: We want you to be able to focus on you and your newborn, so when we are notified of the birth of your baby, we will continue to proactively book you in for your postnatal and baby checks, so you do not need to do anything.
  • Coils, implants, pessary fits and smears: Please contact the surgery directly by phone or in person to arrange these specific procedures – our care navigators will arrange these appointments for you or add you to the waiting list for our dedicated clinics for these procedures.
  • Road Traffic Accident assessments: If you require a physical examination following a road traffic accident and you have not attended an A&E department, this is non-NHS work and will incur a private fee. Please contact the surgery directly to arrange this appointment.
  • Non-NHS / insurance work e.g. examinations and assessments required for DVLA, HGV / taxi licences, firearms certificates, adoption medicals: these will incur a private fee. Please contact the surgery, our team will be able to arrange an appointment for you.
  • Requests for joint injections and complex skin lesions that require dermoscopy: Before booking, please check the list of clinicians who perform these procedures to ensure you select the most appropriate clinician for your appointment. • If an appointment has been booked inappropriately, or you have booked an appointment with a clinician who does not perform the procedure that you require, you will be asked to rebook with the appropriate clinician.
