Patient Participation Group

Welcome to the Park Medical Practice Patient Participation Group. We hope you will consider joining the PPG at our CQC rated ‘GOOD’ practice.

Often patients only think of a GP practice as having medical staff with a reception and administration team. However there is another arm to the practice that gives a voice to the patients who are registered.

The Patients Participation Group (PPG) consists of local people who wish to provide voluntary support to their local GP Practice.

We meet at 7pm bi-monthly on the 2nd Tuesday in the month.   Previously meetings were held at the Chaddesden Maine Drive site but more recently these have been virtual meetings. Each meeting is also attending by the Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager, a GP Partner and often the Nurse Manager and IT Manager.

During the meetings the practice manager feeds back the progress of the practice and any future projects set out by NHS England etc. It is during this time you will be able to ask questions and discuss how this may impact the patient population.

The PPG have previously solely organised open days for the whole of the local community, this was attending by a number of charities and services and covered a wide variety of topics such as  ADHD, breast-feeding infants, Sports Centres, allergies, hospice care, eye care, incontinence and mental health. It is during these free events we are able to raise money for the practice. This vital money allows the PPG to purchase important patient benefiting equipment that is not funded by the NHS. Here is a list of a few items we have purchased previously:

  • Electronic medical couches
  • Nurse bags including equipment for home visits
  • Visual aids for patients with Learning disabilities
  • Bike rakes for patients
  • TV screens for waiting rooms.

Have you got ideas to help your GP practice? Are you passionate about the NHS or considering a career within the NHS? Then join our PPG, your ideas really can make a difference to the Practice.
