When We Are Closed
If you suffer an emergency, eg crushing chest pain/unconsciousness, you should call 999 so you can receive immediate help from fully equipped paramedics.
If you take ill out of hours and need to see a health professional or want advice, telephone Derbyshire Health United on 111. Calls to Derbyshire Health United are all recorded.
Out-of-hours surgery consultations take place at various sites in Southern Derbyshire and are mostly by appointment only. Consultations may be with a doctor or nurse practitioner or emergency care practitioner.

CHOOSE WELL – Dee’s A&E Fail Tail
Have you ever been to A&E because you can’t get off a fake nail? Taken your poorly pet to A&E instead of the vet?

NHS 111 Service
NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help – wherever you are, and whatever the time.
You can call NHS 111 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and all calls from landlines and mobiles are free.

When to use it?
You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it’s not a life-threatening situation.
You should call 111 if:
- you need medical help fast, but it’s not a 999 emergency
- you think you need to go to A&E or another NHS urgent care service
- you don’t know who to call, or you don’t have a GP to call, or
- you require health information or reassurance about what to do next
For less urgent health needs you should still contact your GP or local pharmacist in the usual way.
For immediate, life-threatening emergencies, continue to call 999.
Derby Urgent Care Centre
The walk-in centre can be accessed by anyone seven days a week from 8.00am to 7.30pm. It is nurse led and is located off Osmaston Road at the back of the London Road Community Hospital. No appointment is necessary and the staff deal with minor illnesses, minor injuries, contraception and health information.
One Medicare also offer a GP led walk-in centre in Derby. They are based at Lister House, 207 St Thomas Road, DERBY DE23 8RJ and are open 8.00am – 8.00pm 7 days a week.
