Changes to Repeat Prescriptions from 1st May

After discussion with the our Patient Participation Group the partners have decided that, apart from controlled drugs, we will be sending ALL repeat prescriptions via EPS (Electronic Prescription Service) from 1st May.

This means your repeat prescriptions will be sent directly to your nominated chemist. If you do not have a nominated pharmacy reception will send a text message to inform you which pharmacy your prescription has been sent to.

Please see below for more information on EPS.

Repeat prescriptions

Can be obtained from the surgery without seeing a doctor/nurse. If the doctor is happy for you to continue the treatment, you can do this in a number of ways.

Please check on your latest prescription tear-off slip that your medication does not need reviewing, ie the two numbers are the same, eg 3/3 – if this is the case, your medication will need reviewing.

Please allow 2 working days (not including Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holidays) before collecting your signed prescription after 5pm.

Online via the practice website

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS):

A new way to get your medicines and appliances has started.

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service.

Patient Notice: Not all items can be ordered via EPS. Currently, controlled drugs and food products cannot be ordered this way. Any queries please contact reception

The practice can now send your repeat prescription request electronically direct to your pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor of choice. Which means you will no longer need to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription.

How can you use the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)?

You need to choose a place for your GP practice to electronically send your prescriptions to. This is called nomination. Visit or contact the pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor and ask if they offer EPS, they will then inform the practice of your nomination. You do not need a computer to do this!

Some pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractors may be able to offer to order your prescriptions from the practice for you. Some even deliver to your door!!
